Welcome to part two of my three-part winter catch-up blog post series. By the time January rolled around, we were deep into our Minnesota winter. The yard was covered in a blanket of snow, and the evergreen tree out back looked like it was straight from a postcard.
The holiday lights were still bringing cheer to the cold nights.
Something about a cold, dark winter night makes us want to venture out for pie! Baker's Square is a dangerously short drive away.
We've been enjoying all that the winter has to offer. I introduced Henry to extreme ice sledding. He loved skidding across the ice around turns as I pulled him behind me.
We took a trip to the Minnesota Science Center over in St. Paul, and it turned out to be a big hit with Henry. The "ping pong ball floating on a fountain of air" display was his favorite.
He also liked the archaeology displays.
Another great place to go for wintertime indoor fun is Choo Choo Bob's. They have six fully stocked train tables set up at the back of the store for the kids to play with for however long they want. Henry loves it, and it's also great fine motor control practice for him.
Back at the house, we're still having lots of fun with the stacking blocks. Peek-a-boo!
Henry also got much more interested in practicing his walking starting in January. He did a lot of laps around the house with his toy walkers.
Of course, as winter goes on, the shenanigans get sillier and sillier. There's the "bib on the head" routine...
The "do your best Elton John impression" contest...
...and when all else fails, the "stick Henry in a laundry basket and fill the hallway with 250 balls" trick. Works every time!
Katie had the girls over to do a craft project one day.
Cute cousins!
January ended up being a great start to the new year. The first winter in the house has been cozy, and we've found lots of fun activities to do around town. In the last of the winter catch-up posts, I'll cover February and March, and then we can start looking ahead to spring!
