Summer Learning and Milestones

While we were all having lots of fun, Henry also had a summertime full of learning and milestones, too.  A lot of them were on the subject of food.  Coming into the summer, Henry was still pretty hesitant about eating anything that had a lot of texture, and wasn't really into feeding himself.  Not any more!

We were rather surprised one day to learn that Henry already knew how to eat the squeeze packs of food.

A pile of strawberries?  No problem for me now!

Salmon and green beans dining al fresco on the deck?  Yum!

Birthday cake?  That one's a no-brainer.

An apple fresh off the tree in the orchard?  You thought you stumped me.  Ha!

A Pronto Pup at the State Fair?  Um... maybe next year.

Over the summer, Henry developed a rather sophisticated adult palette, one that enjoys foods such as grilled salmon, paella and grass fed beef, but couldn't care less about french fries or mac and cheese (or, apparently, Pronto Pups.)  Yay, Henry!

Henry also did a lot of reading this summer.  A LOT of reading...

One of his favorite summer reading topics was animals.  Here, daddy is helping him learn all of the different farm animals.

Mommy worked with Henry on animal noises and signs.  Here's elephant...

...and here's monkey!

Henry also found time for a little creative expression.

Ticklin' the ivories.

Auntie Dana helped him work on opening some of the hatches on his pop-up toy.

Summer was also a time for walking practice.

Henry's also showing some interest in walking behind his walker toy.  His confidence is growing!

And there was one last milestone this summer - Henry's first haircut!

He put on his game face.

He did great!  He read about animals during the haircut.  Always learning!

So it was a summer full of learning and achieving milestones for Henry.  We're so proud of the little guy!
