Little River Canyon

One November weekend, Fran and I decided to go for a hike at Little River Canyon in Northeast Alabama. It was a beautiful, sunny fall day in the south, with all of the leaves in the midst of their change to the fall colors. After becoming lost in Fort Payne, AL (random trivia- Fort Payne is the Sock Capitol of the World!), we finally found the park.

We took a hike through the woods, often times on the side of cliffs (much to Fran's dismay) to finally make it to the waterfall. The water is low at this time of the year, but it was still quite pretty.

Following the hike back, we took a drive on a scenic road on the top of the mountain. We pulled over several times to take in the views. Our trusty Subaru was totally in her element- doesn't this picture look like an advertisement?

It was a great way to spend the day and I was happy to feel well enough to actually hike in the mountains. Progress!
