The rest of our summer has been relatively quiet since returning from Minnesota. We've used the opportunity to get to work on some projects around the house. Katie finally found a chance to set up her lathe and pen turning station. Here she is working on a piece of practice wood.
We did find time for one weekend getaway. We went up to Tennessee to catch the last weekend of the full river whitewater rafting run on the Ocoee River. We stayed in Chattanooga the night before, and found time to explore Ruby Falls, at 145 ft. tall the largest underground waterfall in North America. It's found 1100 feet under the surface of Lookout Mountain.
Other than that, we've just been enjoying getting back to a routine and enjoying all of the things that Birmingham has to offer this time of year. I made many visits to the Saturday Pepper Place Market, and we have tried some new restaurants around town. We've also had some great cooking successes in the kitchen.
We're enjoying the cooler weather now and we are anticipating the changing of the leaves in the coming weeks, followed soon after by Thanksgiving. We do have some travel between now and then, so check back for trip photos!
